Well…for starter’s, because May’s box is filled with riches!

Also because our featured book of the month is about a pirate queen!

And also also because we were very excited to do another sea-themed case! Our last, similar case was OCEAN CHILD at the beginning of 2022 and we really loved how that turned out. So we wanted to do it again. But this time, we thought about including something a little more pirate-y into the mix.

Pirates can be tricky. They’re either too childlike or they’re too Hollywood. And we wanted something quirky, unique and a little strange, without coming across as a children’s case.

We thought of other, more simple theme names…”it’s a pirates life for me” or “a treasure trove from the deep” but in the end we decided on X because it was mysterious and interesting, just like the heroine in our featured book for May. Not much is known about her.

A case full of oddities and curiosities from the sea.

We’re changing it up a little this month, less matching artwork and more box-full-of-treasures, all related to the mysteries of the oceans and the pirates that once sailed them. Plus we’ve still got an absolutely epic read for you, which is always our priority.
